About you


You will be highly organised and able to demonstrate excellent business administration skills with a good understanding of finance, governance and data management systems within a local authority or similar setting.


You will also be a social media virtuoso, with experience of working in a communications or marketing role and ready to contribute towards the communications and marketing strategy for the programme.


You will be a highly motivated team player, able to work flexibly and who is willing to share learning and best practice.

Ideally, you will have an understanding of similar programmes supporting community development, health & wellbeing and supporting active lifestyles.


About the role
Reporting to the Business Manager, and the Programme Manager (Communications & Evaluation), the role has two core functions.

To support the Business Manager to provide comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support for the Live and Move team.


To support the Programme Manager (Communications and Evaluation) to co-ordinate, promote and monitor engagement with our programmes across a range of social, digital media and communication methods.


Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Arranging meetings, events and workshops
  • Creating, collating, formatting and managing programme documents and presentations
  • Processing payments and helping to maintain programme budgets
  • Assisting with procurement and recruitment processes
  • Driving engagement across a range of social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
  • Assisting with the creation and distribution of engaging content
  • Assisting with digital marketing and social media analytics reporting


The role is primarily based at the Civic Centre, but we do get out in our local communities so there is an expectation you will be able to travel within Exeter and Cranbrook on occasion.


About the team
Live and Move are a team put together with funding from Sport England. We're their Exeter and Cranbrook "Local Delivery Pilot" and Exeter City Council are the accountable body for the funding. We sit under the Communities, Health & Wellbeing and Physical Activity Directorate.


We're working with a wide range of partners, from individuals, community groups and local organisations, to policy decision makers and national partners; what we learn here will help Sport England to support other places in creating more opportunities for active lives.
