Ynys Saff Sexual Assault Referral Centre at Cardiff Royal Infirmary provides a safe space, specialist support and dedicated care for people who have been sexually assaulted.

An on-call shift allowance is paid at the rate of £21.64 and any call outs attended at SARC for forensic purposes are paid at a Band 4 hourly rate.

There may be some circumstances when the post holder will be required to work from another site such as Accident and Emergency.

Although being part of the out of hours team, this role is mainly lone working. Training will be provided.

The post holder will provide support, information and crisis management to clients attending the Sexual Assault Referral Centre in partnership with the police and Forensic Medical Examiner.

Following the completion of a forensic medical examination, the post holder will carry out a DNA forensic clean of the SARC following strict cleaning procedures as well as completing the required administration duties.

The successful applicant will be able to work on their own initiative in emotional and stressful situations. The ability to remain calm under pressure whilst supporting clients in trauma is central to the role.

The post holder will be flexible to cover shortfalls in the rota at short notice due to staff sickness, in order to operate the service on a 24 hours basis.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
