The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a Azure/M365 Security Specialist to join a national services business that is an E5 customer in a hybrid setup.

Though the business has offices in Darlington, Coventry and London, so long as the person can attend an officewhen required, the role can be undertaken remotely.


The Role

In this new role, you will be responsible for supporting the day to day operational management of Azure and M365 security within the business.

driving security improvements from initial requirements to operational processes as well as introducing automationwhere possible with an overall ambition of continually striving to improve IT security across the company.


Specifically you will:

  • Review, define and manage the service definition and service effectiveness of security within Azure and M365, including planning for maturity development and meeting expectations.
  • Support the end to end operational delivery of IT Security across the organisation, managing a range of security tools, including the full security stack of Microsoft E5. Defender Identity, Endpoint, Office and Defender for Cloud Apps, Azure Policy, Defenderfor Cloud etc.
  • Support the management and governance of technical security resilience, ensuring up to date, effective documentation is in place and to support testing our configurations.
  • Onboard new security tools as required, with clear requirements and effective communication to aid adoption in to BAU processes with the varying stakeholders.
  • Take accountability for threat and vulnerability management, ensuring scans and tests are scheduled within Azure.
  • Document process, procedure and risks to the required standard for security resilience and to pass the scrutiny of internal and external audits, defining and reporting metrics that matter to evidence performance and risk are being managed.
  • Enhance security processes and automation, reducing dwell time to conclusion.
  • Support, facilitate or define audits.

The Requirements

You will thrive from working in a fast paced environment, with the challenges of the ever changing demands of security.

You will be up to date with latest Microsoft security initiatives and toolsets and possess demonstrable experience in managing MicrosoftAzure/M365 security implementations and ongoing maintenance of the continued changes.


In addition you are able to:

  • Effectively multitask, balancing multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Explain technical controls in laymen's terms in an effective manner.
  • Evidence supplier management.
  • Manage a matrix of stakeholders.
  • Document designs, processes and procedures.
  • Problem solve, not just be a problem identifier.


Most importantly, you will be passionate and understand security isn't about saying no, but more about getting the real business requirements to support designing the security needed.

Microsoft certifications, such as SC-900, SC-200, SC-300, SC-400, MS-500 or AZ-500 will be beneficial though not essential.
