School Sport Officer


Hours of work: 37.5 per week. (Due to the nature of the post regular evening and weekend work will be necessary)


Salary:
£24,000 per annum


Location:
QPR Stadium, Various Schools and Sports Facilities across West London


Reports to:
School Sport Coordinator


Department:
QPR Community Trust - Education Department


Role Summary:


The School Sport Officer (SSO) will coordinate all aspects of the extra-curricular activities delivered within schools across the Trust's target Boroughs, alongside delivering aspects of the Primary Stars programme.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist School Sport Coordinator at organising the day to day running of the school sport programme and Trust's wider schools programme.
  • Oversee the QPR Schools League programme and deliver final events.
  • Support the growth of the school sport programme by developing new initiatives to generate unrestricted income.
  • Grow the QPR afterschool programme.
  • Deliver P.E & extracurricular themed strands of the QPR School Sport programme.

This is to include (not exhaustive):

  • Engage and inspire participants (aged in the programme.
  • Deliver extracurricular sports clubs
  • Deliver PPA cover
  • Deliver tournaments/ festivals/ trust events
  • Ensure that suitable progression pathways are available for young people to reach their potential. This will involve linking and maintaining a relationship with relevant schools and clubs.
  • When required, provide cover and assistance for other coaching staff across all boroughs/areas that the Trust operates. This cover may extend to attending meetings, conferences, workshops and events if required.
  • Develop a range of sportbased activities that are structured, progressive, fun and of a high quality, in a safe environment, which are accessible to all targeted young people.
  • Continually monitor and evaluate all sessions, activities and programmes and adapt delivery accordingly, contributing to the input into Salesforce monitoring system.
  • Respond to general enquiries and deal efficiently with any administration requirements resulting from the implementation of activities i.e. provide up to date monitoring information as required using Salesforce, production of activity registers, update the database and provide statistics accordingly.

The type of experience we are looking for:_****_
Qualifications_**- _NGB recognised coaching qualification - level 2 minimum_
- _Educated to degree level or equivalent (desirable)_
- _In-date DBS/First Aid/Safeguarding qualifications_
- _Driving License and access to a vehicle (desirable)_

Skills, Knowledge, Experience_**- _Minimum 2 years' experience in a sport development / sports coordinator role_
- _Minimum 2 years' experience coaching within Primary Schools_

Personal Qualities_**- _Excellent organisational and communication skills_
- _Able to build positive relationships with key stakeholders_
- _Highly motivated - with ability to implement new ideas_
