    Position Summary:

    The Executive Director provides leadership and direction to MSI's sizeable and growing software engineering team, focused on driving successful delivery of platforms and products while contributing to the product strategy and roadmap. This involves complex professional proficiencies in managing a large team aimed at capturing significant opportunity to improve customer experience and grow revenue. MSI is seeking for an individual passionate about hands-on engineering work, growing highly productive technical teams, and building leading-edge SaaS products used by thousands of happy customers.     Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead a large and growing engineering organization
  • Collaborate with the Firm's Business leaders and clients to build out products that meet current and future business goals.
  • Lead Firm's engineering org, consisting of development, quality and architecture colleagues, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Ensure that the technology objectives and programs are aligned with MSI's strategic plan and budgets.
  • Optimize business performance and Engineering cost/benefit profile by driving critical decisions and recommendations regarding in-house versus market-available resources and solutions
  • Manage and build strong external relationships with vendors and consultants.
  • Contribute to the development of annual budgets performing periodic cost and productivity analyses.
  • Maintain proficiencies in relevant state-of-the-art technology, and electronic equipment and/or systems.
  • Serve as advisor on all matters pertaining to technology implementation, including needs assessment, evaluation, contract procurement, and implementation.
  • Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • Proven experience with system transformations by leveraging technology to achieve new and different business strategies, particularly in an environment requiring omni-channel enablement, e-commerce, customer interactions and analytics, mobility, data security and innovation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Systems Analysis, or related area. At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in managing and leading diverse technology teams in complex organizations.
  • Promote a SMART codebase (Simple, Maintainable, Agile, Refactored, and Tested) for a SAFE product (Secure, Available, Fast, and Easy).
  • Proven experience with strategic decisions related to technologies, including the appropriate balance of short-term value versus longer-term fit and flexibility. Experience leveraging cloud-based solutions.
  • Proven ability to navigate across organization boundaries and influence senior executives. Can successfully communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and gain the confidence of and credibility with others at all levels.
  • Proven strong peer industry network for benchmarking and best practice idea generation.
  • Skill in motivating all levels of staff to be proactive in recognizing opportunities, developing, and implementing solutions, and applying quality principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated team building and people development skills and experience. Capable of retaining critical talent while supplementing with new skills from inside and outside the organization. Has successfully led a large organization through times of change.
  • Extensive knowledge of technology and communications systems analysis, design, construction, integration, operation, security, and maintenance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technology and communications architectures, standards, and policies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of process innovation and redesign, project management, and contract management.
