Postdoctoral Epidemiologist - Oxford, United Kingdom - University of Oxford

    Default job background
    Full time, Fixed-Term/Contract
    Description

Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching.

We are seeking a postdoctoral epidemiologist with experience of epidemiological data analyses to join our team in the Cancer Epidemiology Unit. You will be joining our collaborative research team of epidemiologists and statisticians, conducting innovative epidemiological research on risk factors for non-communicable diseases based on large prospective cohort studies and consortia.

The main focus of the project are to assess how dietary proteins and associated indicators, including circulating proteins found in the blood, may influence the development of common age-related diseases such as different subtypes of stroke, hip fractures and vascular dementia, with the aim to identify future prevention and treatment strategies.

To be considered you will hold (or be close to completion of) a PhD in epidemiology, nutritional epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, medical statistics or other relevant subject. You will also have an excellent understanding of statistical analysis of biomarker data and a range of epidemiological and statistical concepts and techniques (e.g. prospective and cross-sectional study designs, and linear, logistic and Cox regression models). Experience of analysing dietary exposures or biomarkers, particularly omics data, in relation to risk of non-communicable diseases would be desirable.

The post is full-time (although part-time is considered) and fixed term for 3 years. The closing date for applications is noon on Wednesday, 5 June 2024.

You will be required to upload a CV and a cover letter as part of your online application. The cover letter should clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description.

We would like the successful candidate to start as soon as possible (within 6 months).

    £36,024 to £44,263 per annum. Grade 7
