    Sports Activation Manager: North Ayr Community Sport Hub

    RESPONSIBLE TO: North Ayr Community Sport Hub

    Hours : 35 Hours per week. Flexible working pattern based on the needs of the community.

    Monday – Thursday 11am-6:30pm

    Friday 3pm-7pm

    Saturday 9:30am-12:30pm

    Location: Riverside Campus, University Avenue, Ayr, South Ayrshire.

    Duration of post: 31st December 2024 with a possibility of extension (Pending Funding)

    North Ayr Sports Hub are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to work across all departments of our Community Sports Hub and facilities based in Ayr North. We are looking for someone with the correct skillset who is enthusiastic, a good communicator and has a passion to provide opportunities for people of all ages and ability levels within the local community.

    The role will cover two main areas:

    • Providing support to develop and sustain our North Ayr Sports Hub facility provision and programmes.
    • Partnership working with other organisations, delivery of programmes, and signposting stakeholders to North Ayr Sports Hub

    Job summary:

    • To lead, manage and deliver a range of sustainable opportunities within North Ayr to increase participation, and progression, in sport and physical activity through North Ayr Community Sport Hub.
    • To deliver a range of internally commissioned projects and programmes, including those from external partnerships and funding bodies.
    • To review, monitor and evaluate the provision of quality physical activity & sport opportunities available through the North Ayr Community Sport Hub.
    • To support sports clubs and community organisations to develop welcoming, safe and progressive environments for sport and physical activity, and to increase participation within North Ayr.
    • Manage the coaching structure and talented athlete pathway, ensuring it meets national governing body guidelines for best practice for age and stage development.
    • Plan and deliver a programme of workforce development in collaboration with partners to support a robust network of people at all levels to deliver sport and physical activity.

    Main duties and responsibilities:

    • Plan and deliver sporting opportunities in line with the North Ayr CSH Action Plan.
    • To deliver the relevant funded programmes in line with funders conditions.
    • To ensure the work of the CSH working group is represented and profiled across South Ayrshire and partners.
    • To recruit, train and mentor relevant staff and volunteers as service needs require. Providing appropriate supervision, guidance and training.
    • To market and promote opportunities and outcomes within the community utilising a range of marketing and promotion avenues, including social media channels.
    • To manage and co-ordinate a club and community educational programme that fulfils the partners and community needs.
    • To lead on acquiring external funding for the CSH and work with relevant partners on other funding opportunities.
    • To manage a wide range of events in collaboration with relevant partner organisations.
    • Manage performance impact data for relevant work areas and report through appropriate internal and external avenues as required.
    • To align programme of work with the aims and objectives of the South Ayrshire Physical Activity & Sport Strategy.

    Person specification

    Candidates must be qualified in a relevant discipline, hold a National Governing Body qualification or have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience of working within the sport industry.

    • Proven experience of working in the field of sports development.
    • Ability to manage projects from development to implementation.
    • Proven track record of applying and managing external funding.
    • The ability to present information in an accurate and appropriate format; illustrating good communication, personal organisation and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience of recruitment and management of staff and volunteers.
    • Knowledge of the key local and national sport and physical activity strategies and understand how these impact on service delivery.
    • Knowledge of local talent pathways, educational bodies and associated support available.

    Additional Requirements - essential

    • Competent in the use of social media for marketing and promotional purposes.
    • Experience of data collection information for evaluative and reporting purposes.
    • IT skills including experience of using Microsoft Packages.
