Overview of roleA reputable international law firm is looking for an associate to join the Insurance division of their Insolvency and Dispute Resolution practice in Bermuda.

Reporting to the Head of Insurance Disputes within the Insolvency and Dispute Resolution Department, you would advise on all aspects of litigation and dispute resolution with particular emphasis on contentious insurance and reinsurance litigation and ADR, claims monitoring, coverage disputes.

Insolvency, creditor and shareholder remedies and general commercial litigation work may also be assigned.

Duties, Responsibilities & Person SpecificationWork within the IDR team in the Bermuda office advising on a wide range of insurance-related disputes and provide technical insurance-related advice on insurance contracts, regulation and other insurance-related matters.

Operate as a technical resource to clients, providing sound expert legal advice and, where necessary, attend court / arbitration / mediation hearings as advocate, giving highly responsive service to international clientele.

Independently and/or as part of a broader team, conduct complex, high value litigation in the Supreme of Bermuda, Court of Appeal for Bermuda and in Bermuda or international arbitrations as client needs dictate.

Maintain revenue and profitability targets and provide recommendations for optimizing growth.
Help develop existing client relationships and assist with business development.
Leverage professional and personal global network to grow the Firm's resources.
Education, Skills & Experience4 years qualified Bermuda and/or commonwealth lawyer.
Excellent academics and deep experience of working with or against insurers in disputes work.
