Purpose of the Job

  • To lead in and teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of projects and students.
  • To develop teaching materials or methodologies, including course design and assessment and being module coordinator or contribute to module coordination.
  • To provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • To undertake School and College leadership roles and other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head of School of Medical and Health Science
Main


Responsibilities:

Working with the Head of School of Medical and Health Sciences, the post-holder will:

Teaching duties:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials, responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes.
  • Motivate students to proactive engagement in learning, and provide meaningful and constructive feedback on the quality of their work.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
  • Act as personal tutor to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing advice, guidance and support.
  • Lead the review of modules and programmes and quality assurance mechanisms.

Administrative and Wider Contribution duties:

  • Participate in the student recruitment and induction procedures of the School (e.g. School and University Open Days).
  • Contribute to the promotion and external profile of the School.
  • Contribute to the School's/College's management, and participate in the administration of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (e.g. director of teaching, senior tutor, exams officer or admissions officer roles).
  • Contribute to the marketing of programmes by participating in School and College link activities and other marketing initiatives.
  • Contributing to addressing undergraduate and post graduate student experience and student recruitment and retention.
  • Lead in knowledge transfer and impact activities.
  • Undertake other administrative duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head of School (e.g. leadership of school or College projects, which may involve interdisciplinary groups, membership of School boards and task groups).Other

  • The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.
