This role is vital in the ongoing development of system capabilities, evolving and driving value utilising technology.

The role is instrumental in improving business processes and how they align to AX/D365 (standard functionality where possible) and/or providingguidance on when a customized approach is needed.

The role is also aimed at uncovering value-add opportunities within the business units which haven't yet been realised.

The role includes requirements gathering, supporting business case proposals, and working closely with other team members to deliver aconsistent and high-quality experience for the users of AX/D365.


The functional consultant will determine the strengths and weaknesses of the AX/D365 system in relation to the business processes and recommend improvements to drive value by building relationships with key stakeholders, internal customers and third parties.


Responsibilities include:


  • Collaborates with stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure a comprehensive set of requirements, aligned to business objectives and compliance, gaining full understanding of current business processes.
  • Provides indepth knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012/D365 and evaluates the business processes against the standard capability. Challenges the business to limit customizations and adopt best practice processes.
  • Demonstrates experience in implementation methodology, understands the key activities and deliverables for internal projects.
  • Responsible for documenting the business requirements which express what actions a solution must take and what outcome is expected. Creation of business impact assessment, with timelines and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Supports the decisionmaking process and develops the functional design document that will drive the development process. Liaises with third parties on a technical level for solution delivery.
  • Responsible for management and facilitation of the technical environments which underpin development and testing. Coordinating acceptance testing to ensure the proposed change is successful.
  • Stakeholder management and communication ensuring business users are kept up to date on releases and project status.
  • Support the business out of hours with monthly post maintenance checks and being on call following releases to ensure their successful transition.
  • Analyses business reporting needs and evaluates the most appropriate tool to fulfil the requirements.
  • Creates Business requirement documents, Functional design documents.
  • Write test scripts and performs tests.
  • Estimates time for each work item on work stack management tool DevOps.

You will be expected to have knowledge of the following:

  • Experience working with supply chain, retail, food distributors, 24x7 operation or franchisee model.
  • Experience of Dynamics AX 2012 R3/D36
  • Ability to translate customer desires & outcomes into high level technical specifications / requirements documents (Business requirement document, Functional design document and test scripts/test packs)
  • Delivery focused and customer centric with a high standard of interpersonal and negotiation skills for liaison and management of communications with external suppliers, project stakeholders and users.
  • Understand and worked with both Supply chain and Finance modules. Ability to demonstrate through proofofconcept supply chain and finance concepts and functions with AX2012/D36
  • Ability to design and have experience with AX/D365 integrations.
