We work with young people aged 8-19 and up to 25 for those with additional needs offering provision during the day (including weekends) for targeted young people, each evening for universal provision and residential provision for specific programmes.
The Manchester Youth Zone has an excellent reputation in a number of areas including safeguarding, working with young people who are "at risk" of criminal exploitation, mentoring and employment skills.

Please visit our website to learn more about the work we doThe Youth Integration Worker will be responsible for supporting young people to access activities within our building who currently struggle due to behaviour challenges, additional needs or other reasons. The successful applicant will have experience working with young people who are at risk, (in particular at risk of criminal exploitation), and be able to engage and build trusting relationships with these young people. Building strong relationships with external agencies (to include statutory agencies including education, social care, the police, community groups and more) as well as with the families of the young people is essential in this role. There will be a need to work evenings and weekends as this is the time young people access our facilities (Friday evenings and Sunday daytime is mandatory for this role).
Key Duties
- To effectively build relationships with young people identified as being high risk, ensuring support is given to transition from 1:1 work onto session
- To effectively work with the safeguarding lead to ensure that safety plans are implemented, the risk register is up to date and information is provided in a timely manner to statutory agencies
- To support all youth & play teams to implement safety plans and risk assessments, be the main point of contact for transition onto session and sessional staff are upskilled to manage challenging behaviour
- Build strong relationships with external agencies, especially schools we work with the alternative education provision and Strive
- At times, deputise for the youth and play managers; overseeing the delivery of a highquality diverse offer, compromising of at least 8 different activities per session, which is safe, fun, challenging and developmental, adapting where required for young people with additional needs
- Complete new member meetings for young people identified as having additional needs, ensuring that this information is shared with the wider youth & play teams and these young people are supported on session, especially their induction sessions
