Role Overview

The Junior Buyer will be responsible for assisting in procurement activities including sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery.

They collaborate with teams to meet production needs, analyse market trends, and help manage inventory levels efficiently. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, are essential for success in this role.


Key Responsibilities

Sourcing

  • Issuing requests for quotation (RFQ's/RFI's/RFP's) and making informed and sustainable sourcing decisions to support business requirements and objectives
  • Placing purchase orders securing required lead times in line with the business demand (MRP requirements)
  • Proactively address material shortages to strive for MRP adherence
  • Proactively seek cost reduction opportunities within the supply chain through negotiation and / or competitive tendering.
  • Ensure products / services are ethically sourced and to process

Delivery

  • Conducting weekly orderbook management with suppliers expediting, rescheduling and agreeing delivery plans with suppliers
  • Handling PO revision changes including engineering change requests and quality requirement changes.
  • Ensure On Time Delivery of all items in line with the manufacturing plan.
  • Ensure that the ERP system is kept up to date.
  • Effectively manage supplier relationships ensuring best practice purchase techniques are always considered.

Quality

  • Consistent development of Key suppliers in line with QCD requirements.
  • Compiling and issuing KPI reports internally and to suppliers
  • Ensure process adherence and procurement governance in line with business requirements
  • Conduct account reviews with suppliers driving supplier performance (CQD)
  • Liaising with suppliers, driving supplier performance with SQE / SDE to develop and build supplier capability and competency.

Procurement Activities

  • Project support: Providing data analysis of supplier performance, spend, demand and KPI's to support functional and category development
  • Project support: Supporting in the creation of presentations
  • General Purchasing administrative and nonadministrative duties
  • Support in developing Approved Vendor List (AVL) with Quality Assurance (QA) and Supply Chain Manager
  • Engagement with key stakeholders to develop processes and solve problems.

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with large data sets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools
  • Willing to get involved and is keen to learn through asking questions and building relationships
  • Part of the role is handson and will be focused on Process Subcon sourcing working closely with Goods-In, Planning and engineering
  • Has experience of KPI's and data analysis
  • Is interested in manufacturing and keen to learn more about machining, assembly and testing.
