Reporting line

The Catering Assistant will report to the Catering Supervisor.

Job dimensions


To work 22.5 hours a week as part of the catering team to provide front of house retail services in the INTO Café and the Avon Shop convenience store.

This includes tasks such as serving hot and cold snacks and beverages, preparation and cooking of food, and general café/shop assistant duties.

Post holders will be situated at either the Café or the Shop and will be expected to work flexible hours to suit business needs, including working occasional weekends as part of a rostered schedule, as well as extra hours to cover annual leave or sicknesses.

Part of the annual leave entitlement will be required to take during closure periods in line with academic schedules of the INTO University of Exeter.

Key accountabilities and duties

  • Working 'frontofhouse', serving customers, using the cashless payment system and EPOS
  • Assisting with the serving, preparation and cooking of hot and cold food as required, ensuring that all food safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
  • Act as a barista creating hot and cold drinks for customers
  • Checking and unloading deliveries, assisting with stock control and stock taking.
  • Creation of order lists
  • Cleaning of the relevant areas to ensure hygiene standards are continually maintained
  • Assist with inhouse catering functions.
  • Assisting with any other duties as require commensurate with the nature of the posts
  • General customer service

Location

INTO operated retail outlets are within the Campus of the University of Exeter.
