PART TIME POSITION WITHIN THE ACTIVE COMMUNITIES TEAM

Location:
Abbey House, Oxfordshire


Contract Type:
Fixed Term Contract to 31 March 2024


Hours:
Part Time (21 hours/wk)


Salary:
Grade 4, £28,917 FTE, £16, £ pro rata for 21 hours a week

This post will work collaboratively with community groups, individuals, statutory and voluntary partners to improve access to, and participation in, health and well-being activities and opportunities.

The post holder will be required to work on their own initiative to develop, deliver and evaluate interventions to help our residents adopt active lifestyles and reduce inactivity and health inequalities across South Oxfordshire


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- plan, promote and deliver a sports and physical activity programme that reduces levels of inactivity, working on both the Move Together programme and You Move programme
- work in partnership with leisure providers, local clubs and voluntary organisations to develop activities appropriate for the target audience identified
- promote an active and healthy lifestyle through presentations, one to one interactions and delivering activity sessions in community settings


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

- minimum 5 GCSEs grades A-C, including English and Maths
- level 2 sports coaching qualification
- full driving licence with access to a car for work purposes
- ability to work outside of normal office hours for project delivery, including occasional weekends


ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

- excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to present information to a range of audiences in both written and verbal formats
- experience of delivering community-based activities to targeted groups
- understanding the barriers that prevent inactive people, particularly in rural areas, from participating in sports and physical activities
- relevant experience of delivering training to coaches, tutors and volunteers
- experience of partnership working and specifically of developing and delivering multi-agency partnership initiatives
