    The role

    Join us to deliver co-ordinated, commercial oversight across all the business service areas aligned to the Chief Operating Officer of the International firm.

    The role holder is responsible for delivering co-ordinated, commercial oversight across all of the business service areas aligned to the Chief Operating Officer, International. This includes responsibility for management and delivery of the annual budget submission and the monitoring, forecasting and reporting of commercial expenditure versus budget throughout the year. The role holder will be required to provide analysis and quality assurance to the COO and other stakeholders as required, across all aspects of Opex and Capex aligned with the COO's business service areas.

    As well as oversight of the COO areas, the role holder will be required to lead on all aspects of commercial/financial oversight of the Corporate Project Portfolio. This will include preparation as well as analysis and evaluation of business cases, development of a robust methodology for tracking value creation and benefit realisation.

    The role holder will work closely with the finance and operations leads in each of the international business service directorates as well as maintaining a close working relationship with the firm's dedicated finance function.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Co-ordination and oversight of the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, monthly reporting cycles on behalf of the business service areas reporting into the COO
  • Lead and manage all aspects of commercial and financial oversight for the Corporate Project Portfolio within the business services area
  • Develop, analyse, and evaluate business cases, providing insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making
  • Analysis and commercial modelling for longer term business planning, including identifying and driving opportunities for efficiencies to meet business and financial goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of commercial strategies with overall business (COO area) objectives
  • Monitoring of performance against budgets and action plans, including leading regular commercial review meetings with service areas, provision of insightful analysis and commentary to the COO
  • Identify opportunities for revenue enhancement, cost optimisation, and risk mitigation within the COO area
  • Pro-active preparation of MI, KPIs and presentations for COO use at Executive and Board sessions
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes to inform and adapt commercial strategies accordingly
  • ABOUT YOU

  • Applicants should be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with at least 5 years PQE working within the legal or professional sector
  • You must be able to demonstrate the ability to influence key business strategies and initiatives and be able to take a strategic view of the business and the financial impact of cost on overall profitability in order to deliver a proactive service to the COO
  • Strong commercial awareness is key with experience in understanding international, complex and diverse business requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capability to interpret data and trends to inform strategic decisions. You must be service oriented with experience of senior stakeholder management and the potential to establish a credible reputation in the business quickly
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and international business environment, adapting strategies to changing circumstances
  • Strong track record of successfully leading commercial initiatives and contributing to the financial success of projects
  • Able to handle multiple priorities, working to sometimes conflicting timescales in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Able to build trust and rapport to develop effective relationships, internally and externally
