Do you have a passion for helping others and an interest in dietetics. We have 2 positions for dietetic assistants to support the inpatient dietitians. The role will involve triaging of referrals which come into the department based on their MUST score and clinical information and supporting the dietitians to deliver excellent nutritional care to those who require it. The role delivers MUST training to ward staff and supports training of others in nutritional care as well promotion of the dietetic profession and support to campaigns to raise awareness on nutrition related issues
Main duties of the job
Role includes helping the Dietitians to encourage patients' with their nutritional intake. Carrying out ongoing assessment of patients, communicate their needs to the nursing team, monitor their results and assist the dietitian to ensure that the nutritional care plan is carried out effectively. Support the dietitians to facilitate a seamless transfer of care between acute and community settings.
This role will also involve liaising closely with a multidisciplinary team ( dietetic, catering, medical / nursing and pharmacy staff) as well as families and carers. Excellent interpersonal skills and IT skills are essential. The role will also involve preparation and facilitation of presentations to patient groups and delivering training sessions for the wider health care team. You will be a key part of any health promotion campaigns which will raise the profile of dietetics, nutritional screening and the importance of good nutrition whilst in hospital.
