    Who are Good Growth?

Good Growth's* mission is to fix the way online innovation is done - the current approaches are fraught with risk and hampered by legacy technology. We use our clients' legacy technology in combination with our data, insight and technology platforms to facilitate low-risk, high-speed, iterative, data-driven online innovation. That is, exploration of the set of possible future states of their website(s) through the scientific method. We allow our clients to test the future by using their legacy technology as an asset.

We are based in Birmingham and Exeter (as well as having a few people dotted around in Oxford, Haywards Heath, Chelmsford, and London).

    The role

To deliver on our mission, we have, over the last ~10 years, built a technology platform that facilitates rapid online innovation. We have a team of engineers who use this platform day-to-day to deliver experiences (you can think of these as tests) for our clients. This role is to manage those engineers.

This role will be suited to someone who is energised by managing people and seeing them grow - both personally and professionally - and thrive in all aspects of their career. In addition, the ideal candidate must have a deep passion for technology and creative problem solving.

This role does not involve coding day-to-day but we do require someone with very high technical proficiency (particularly in web technologies) due to an important part of this role being to both advise and unblock your team on an hoc basis. This advice will be set against the backdrop of web technologies but it will be given within the context of using our platform. This means you must be willing to become very familiar with said platform - its idioms, etc. - such that (i) you can give the best advice possible, and (ii) you can feed into the platform team (i.e. the team who maintains the platform) when there is a missing feature/bug/etc.

In addition to managing your team you will look outwards into (i) the business (e.g. working with Account Management to make sure we are delivering what we've committed to deliver), and (ii) the outside world (i.e. interacting directly with clients, both existing ones and those that are at the start of their relationship with Good Growth). You will report directly into the CTO.

    The process

    1. Informal chat - a discussion over coffee (and ideally it would be in person) to explore further if this role could be a good fit for you.
    2. Technical test - although, as mentioned above, this role is primarily a management one, the role does require good technical skills so you can effectively and efficiently advise and/or unblock your team as and when required. This would be done within your own time and should take no more than 3 hours to complete.
    3. Work date - we invite all candidates (for all roles) to spend a day in the business to get a much better sense of what the job would actually be like, with whom you'd be working, etc. This is as much for you as it is for us. This day would be paid irrespective of if you were offered the role.
