What You Will Do as a Commercial Finance Manager

As a Commercial Finance Manager, you will be acting and working at a senior level, looking to contribute to the business strategy as opportunities present themselves and be a proud ambassador for the Finance team when attending senior management events.


You will be responsible for a team of Project Finance Managers who are themselves responsible for the reporting of Turnover and Gross profit across the business.

The contribution here is based around welfare, personal development and communication, control and review.


Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the team prepare timely and accurate monthly Management Accounts for their contracts. Be prepared to step in an assist team member, particularly in time of absence or peak activity.
  • Liaise with the senior divisional management teams to ensure they have a good appreciation of their financial results and that they are content with the service received from the team.
  • To be very alert to credit control, making sure we are paid the correct amount, on a timely basis, within the sector. The role is to escalate issues to the operations team for action.
  • Stepping in with good negotiation skills to resolve disputes with our clients and suppliers.
  • Using the data generated to drive margin improvement with better working practices.
  • Assisting our bid team with tender commercials, to ensure we are competitive but also profitable. This will be an occasional duty when the core bid team is at peak activity.
  • Overseeing the preparation of annual budgets for the sector and gathering information for the CFO to reforecast periodically.
  • To engage in the bid process for new work and bring experience, data and commercial direction to bids being prepared by the bid team.

- £65,000 - £70,000 pa (pro rota as 9 month FTC mat leave cover)

What We Expect of You

  • Accounting Qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
  • Proven experience in leading and supporting a high performing finance team of qualified project accountants
  • Strong communication skills, particular with nonfinance professionals.
  • Ability to analyse financial data using programmes such as Business Objects or DOMO
  • Ability to communicate with internal stakeholders, directors, board members and external clients

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months


Salary:
£65,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
