Job Role: Scala Engineer

Reference: BH-291c

Job Type: 6-month Contract

Day Rate: £310 (Outside IR35) / £6,000 per month

Location: W est London (Hybrid role, x3 days per week in the office)

Technical Experience:

• Proven work experience in Scala development, with a strong understanding of functional programming concepts.
• Proficiency in Akka and Akka Streams.
• Familiarity with the Typelevel stack, i.e: Kafka, Cassandra, Kubernetes, GCP, and/or AWS.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience with machine learning and its application in personalisation services is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
• Passion for championing best practices and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Developing real-time data processing solutions and RESTful microservices using Scala
• Demonstrating a solid working knowledge of Akka and Akka Streams to maintain and enhance existing services.
• Exercising autonomy and self-organisation as an integral part of a cross-functional agile team.
• Iteratively refining team processes to enable continuous integration and delivery of high-quality applications.
• Implementing best practices like Test-Driven Development (TDD) to ensure the development of robust, scalable code.
• Contributing to the cultivation of an engineering culture focused on DevOps and GitOps principles.
