Why this role is important for CPI's work:

CPI has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Operations to join the established and growing biotechnology team based at Wilton.

We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual to deliver operational excellence now and in the future for CPI's activities at the Wilton Centre.

The successful individual will develop the focus of the team to reflect the increasing requirement for scaled-up, proven manufacturing processes that are capable of delivering the requirements of our customers and the market as they approach commercialisation.

They will establish leadership and own the SHEQ and training systems within the team.

They will establish and operate robust forecasting and planning systems for all activities within the team and act as a key representative with other functional leaders across CPI and within the Wilton Centre, to ensure the team can operate as required to meet customer needs whilst maintaining the established SHEQ standards.

The Role

  • To lead with PRIDE; leading by example and role modelling the desired behaviours to exemplify our Company values and line manager principles, promoting an ethical, positive company culture. To empower our people to challenge the status quo to deliver incredible work.
  • To effectively manage your team's goals and performance, sharing and translating business strategy, ensuring identification and delivery of organisational goals, through utilisation of appropriate management styles, providing feedback and motivation to team members and enabling individuals to meet their potential. This includes providing strong managerial support, performance management, and recruitment, development, and allocation of resource to ensure delivery and longerterm planning of deliverables.
  • Providing functional leadership to the team, enabling the delivery of operational excellence; to work with other "Heads of" and their respective managers to ensure they understand and implement the aspects of operational excellence in everything they do;
  • Leading the development and implementation of Safe Systems of Work across the technology team and ensuring all activity is in accordance with SHE practice and policy; liaise with CPI's Group SHE systems and practices to ensure they are relevant and implemented as required;
  • Supporting the Group Quality Function; being responsible for and ensuring BTT compliance with quality standards and procedures, in particular with ISO 9001, FSSC 22000 and ISO Being the BTT representative on the Quality Committee; identifying regulatory frameworks that can enhance the BTT value proposition and developing budgets and plans for implementing them;
  • Ensuring that the CPI Business Management Systems are communicated and are followed, to deliver industry standard norms in respect of safety, quality and delivery
  • Working closely with business development, marketing, project and programme delivery teams in order to predict, understand and interpret customer needs, in order to enable maximum availability of resources and assets; Accountable for the resource and asset planning tools within the BTT;
  • Creating a strong operations focus to deliver revenue and profit growth to CPI and capability development to UK industry;
  • Managing the BTT Capital programme, liaising with Group Managers and CPI core services to understand their renewal and replacement plan, alongside any capital expenditure required to support new capability; leading the development and delivery of CPI's operational strategy, including all aspects of equipment, capabilities and facilities;

The person we are seeking:

Must have vocational qualifications to NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) or higher, relevant to the assets and activities within the biotechnology, technology team and;
