Working hours:40 Hours per week (or 2 x 20-hour positions based at separate Lifehouses).

The post is based at either of our lifehouses, Darbyshire House and/or Ann Fowler House.


Ann Fowler House, Fraser Street, Liverpool, L3 8JX is a Lifehouse for 38 Adults.


Darbyshire House,380 Prescott Road, Old Swan, Liverpool, L13 3DA is a Lifehouse for 45 Adults.

'Lifehouses' within The Salvation Army are more than a place to stay. They are places where people can get support with their housing issues - but also find support with other aspects of their lives such as employment, debt problems, training, spirituality, loneliness, addiction or mental health.


Our aim is to support people by providing a settled period of accommodation during which time staff can help them to develop both personally and professionally to enable them to live independently in the community.


Overall purpose of the role:


The overall purpose of the Administrative Assistant post within a Lifehouse is to ensure that all administration tasks are completed to a high standard.

This will include monitoring payments received and ensuring staff records are kept up to date. The duties of this post are important to the successful operation of the service.

  • Extensive experience of working as an administrator or similar
  • Adequate knowledge of audit and financial requirements
  • Knowledge of funding streams (Housing Benefits Allowance and Supporting People) and contractual performance requirements
  • Ability to work with a variety of tasks and prioritise accordingly
  • Ability to make decisions within agreed procedures and use one's own initiative
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Proficiency in a range of IT packages, including Microsoft
  • Ability to monitor expenditure and performance compliance to ensure a cost effective and highquality service delivery
  • Willingness to cover Reception duties as and when required
  • Ability to support the mission, values and aims of The Salvation Army
