    Description
    Sure Start Staff are seeking an experienced Highways Engineer working for the local authority in Manchester.

    Employment Type:
    Temporary until November 2024
    00 per hour, depending on experience

    Hours:
    Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm

    Managing and maintaining highways (defect repairs), (gully cleansing and drainage improvement programmes), (winter maintenance including gritting) highway structures (bridges, culverts and retaining walls).


    • Reporting on technical engineering, performance, quality and commercial checks and assessments.
    • Keeping asset management information up to date.
    • Engineering duties e.g., Lead on project communication with all stakeholders including residents, businesses, TfGM and elected members throughout the duration of the schemes. Undertake traffic engineering/highway design feasibility studies when required.
    • Budget and project management of schemes. along with having financial and procurement accountability for projects.
    • Provide technical supervision, support and guidance to junior members of staff.
    Have relevant highway engineering or highway design experience AND

    • Hold an undergraduate degree or MSc in a relevant transportation or engineering discipline
    • Or hold a HNC / HND in Engineering or a relevant equivalent
    • Or be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineering with a relevant institution membership
