    Band 5 £30,229 - £37664 per annum

    Plus £1,279 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

    We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Radiographer to work in our busy Radiology Department.

    You will have the opportunity to work in a state of the art department, using DR (Philips/Siemens), Digital Fluoroscopy (Siemens), Multislice CT (Canon Prime SP 80), digital OPG, DXA and mobile imaging (Philips II, Philips Digital Mob), alongside a friendly team of Radiographers, Sonographers.

    The department undertakes advanced Radiographer-led imaging including CT Colons and Coronary Angiograms.

    Imaging is undertaken for a range of specialities – Respiratory, Oncology, Urology, Vascular, Orthopaedic, Gynecology, Peadiatrics etc.

    This position would be suitable for newly qualified Radiographers with an interest in remote and rural working. We are committed to providing the best care possible to our population – applicants should have understanding of Realistic Medicine and how this impacts Radiology.

    The post will be based at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, with occasional visits to the Uist and Barra Hospital in Benbecula to provide short Radiography locums. There is an on call from home commitment with this post.

    The successful candidate will:

  • hold DCR or BSc in Diagnostic Radiography
  • have good working experience in a wide range of diagnostic imaging investigations
  • have understanding of the specific challenges of remote and rural healthcare delivery
  • NHS experience
  • hold HCPC registration
  • The successful applicants will be required to register with the Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme).

    NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
