Description

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is a global university with an outstanding reputation for producing highly skilled graduates and world-leading research.

As one of the UK's largest universities, with a staff and student community approaching 38,000, UCLan is Lancashire's largest provider of graduate level qualifications.

The University's School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences has an impressive and longstanding reputation for exceptional teaching and research. It offers a broad portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses taught by internationally recognised, research-active scientists and biomedical scientists. Key areas of research expertise include drugs of addiction, nanotechnology, neuroscience, and personalised medicine.

The School provides students with real-world learning experiences inside state-of-the-art facilities which reflect the environments they can expect to encounter in their careers, whether within professional science or healthcare.

The University's academic leadership has recently been reconfigured to ensure that leaders within each School now report directly to the Vice-Chancellor's Group and are directly accountable for delivering improvements in the student experience, recruitment activity and graduate outcomes of their School.

The new Dean of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences will help to sustain the high quality of the School's undergraduate provision, build on its research strengths and expand its postgraduate offer.

They will also contribute to the wider mission of the University, in collaboration with fellow Heads of School and the Vice-Chancellor's Group.
