Reed Procurement & Supply Chain are proud to be supporting our client with their search for a sales Supervisor You will be part of a national shipping company who specialise in ocean and air freight based in Colchester on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract formaternity cover.


The Sales Supervisor is responsible for providing sales quotations and communication to prospective new clients and to provide on-going assistance to overseas customers and agency development.

The Supervisor is also responsible for the work distributionand supervising of the small sales team.


What is involved?

  • Providing sales quotations to prospective new clients & web enquiries.
  • Use our inhouse freight software to form quotations and sales reports.
  • Effective interaction with the Operations team, working alongside them on new client bookings.
  • Achieving KPIs set by the Sales Team for number of new conversions.
  • Sales Team monthly profit/loss report to make sure in line with expected budgets.
  • Develop upselling and customer retention, regular client teams calls, to strengthen relationships and to build longstanding relationships.
  • Maintain data records of prospective new clients.
  • Plan and organise sales activities in connection with our Marketing Plan and liaising with the Marketing Consultant
  • Research prospective customers and identify new leads.
  • Attend local networking events and networking webinars.
  • Support commercial business growth and lead generation.
  • Look for and set up new partners/suppliers with improved services or more costeffective shipping techniques while maintaining service levels.
  • Negotiate with all major shipping lines, partners/suppliers on our rates to find cost savings where possible.

Key Skills Needed

  • Thorough knowledge of freight forwarding is essential.
  • Proven experience in Sales.
  • Able to form strong and mutually beneficial business relationships.
  • Professional with integrity and credibility.
  • Ability to network and influence.
  • Commercially driven.
  • Innovative & highly creative.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
