    Due to increasing demand for our Autism Service we are now looking for acommitted and passionate Learning Disability Nurse to join our experiencedmultidisciplinary team. You will work clinically along with Psychologists,Learning Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and LanguageTherapists and teams of assistant practitioners and charity volunteers.

    You will have opportunities for training and development, to engage inreflective practice, and a chance to support and shape new services under thedirection of the Clinical Lead.

    This is a permanent post working as part of an MDT to deliver effectiveclinical input through assessment, formulation, recommendations and guidance tochildren and families accessing the service.

    Main duties of the job

    This is a permanent post supporting the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT),in the delivery of effective clinical services through assessment, formulationand ongoing support to children, young people and families accessing CaudwellChildren services.

    You will work clinically as part of the MDT that includes Psychologists,Learning Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and LanguageTherapists, Paediatricians, Clinical Assistants, Assistant Psychologists andcharity volunteers. The role also will involve close collaborative working withthe Children and Family Services Department, Applications Department andVolunteer Department.

    Caudwell Children is a Staffordshire based national charity, registered since 2000, providing practical and emotional support to children with a disability and their families. Supporting children aged 0 to 18 years. Some of our services extend to young people transitioning into adulthood to age 25 years. The Caudwell International Childrens Centre is the UKs first independent purpose-built facility dedicated to autism and neurodevelopmental disorders.

    Job responsibilities

    Tosupport the case lead for those children, young people and families that attendfor diagnostic assessment for autism -To support and participate in ADOS/ADIRassessments for children on the autism service pathway

    Therole will involve supporting families and delivering feedback on theirassessment, ensuring families are supported with relevant signposting andinformation

    Tosupport parents and arrange events to ensure families have support prior to andpost assessment- this will involve some weekend work

    Toprovide support and information to other areas of the charity that the postholder will collaborate with

    Toensure case lead has relevant information to be able to manage the caseload,this may involve preparation of documents and clinical information to supportthe assessment

    Tobe able to collate clinical assessments and information and ensure that thesecan be contributed to a clinical report in a timely manner

    Thepost holder should have IT skills and be able to construct reports trainingwill be provided

    Asa member of the MDT team the post holder will support the case lead and otherprofessional, offer clinical advice both within the service and other agencies.

    Providementorship and clinical supervision for students and colleagues

    Retaincompliance with professional regulating body , NMC, ensuring revalidationis planned and completed

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Evidence of registration with the NMC in mental health, learning disability and/or child branch
  • Desirable

  • ADOS and ADIR trained
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of undertaking standardised formal assessments
  • Formulation and implementation of appropriate interventions/strategies
  • Experience of delivering training to a range of audiences using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings
  • Knowledge of a range of neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Familiarity with PBS values and approaches
  • Knowledge of statutory/mandatory training requirements
  • Understanding of evidence based practice
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the organisation
  • Skills in effective report writing and the interpretation of test results
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
  • Excellent team working and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Basic IT and keyboard skills

  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised therapies in Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • Experience of supervising others in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of working with children and families
  • Experience of working with children with ASD and/or complex needs/learning disability
  • Experience of working with volunteers
  • Experience of recruitment and selection processes
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, Childrens Act 2004, Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Knowledge of current safeguarding and child protection legislation and practice
  • Knowledge of Information Governance Standards
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of Education Health and Care Plans
  • Knowledge of CQC or OFSTED regulatory frameworks
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of neuropsychological assessment in children
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
  • Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice
  • Experience of working in the Charity/Third Sector
  • Experience of working in ISO regulated organisations
