    Crest Nicholson South West are looking for a Planner to join their well established team, based in Bristol. This is a position suitable for someone with good knowledge of planning laws, but we are able to consider candidates early on in their Planning career. Ideally you will have hands on planning experience either with a main house builder or contractor, or within the public sector.

    As a Planner with Crest you will be working on gaining planning permissions for land suitable for new homes development, as part of the regional growth and delivery plans. We produce a high quality product with interesting plans and bespoke designs where focus is on the suitability of the homes. A big focus with our south west division is to create community-focused environments and living spaces for an increasingly popular area of the country.

    As Planner you will assist with the acquisition of proposed development sites by:

    • Keeping appraised of changes to national planning policy and guidance and disseminating knowledge to the Development Team
    • Identifying and advising the Development Team of potential development sites that may become available through the prevailing/emerging planning policy
    • Carrying out Site Appraisals having regard to local and national planning policies, planning history and technical and physical constraints
    • Assisting in the preparation of Planning Reports on land to be acquired by the division, identifying any planning/commercial risk
    • Assisting in the formulation of planning strategies in order to obtain planning consent in a timely manner within an appropriate deadline
    • To assist with the preparation of Planning Submissions and their eventual Approval by
    • Assisting in the instruction and management of internal and external project teams to ensure the preparation of a planning application which is commercially viable
    • Checking planning drawings and documents produced by outside draughtsmen/consultants
    • Monitoring applications and maintaining records and file notes
    • Attending Committee Meetings, Appeal hearings and similar meetings and providing reports of their proceedings
    • Checking Planning Agreements/drawings and ensuring conditions do not present any onerous requirements

    We're looking for the following skills and experience:

    • Experience as a Planner, either within a main house builder or with a construction company, alternatively in the public sector
    • Experience of the full planning permission, appeal, negotiation and approval process
    • Passion, drive and enthusiasm for delivering planning permission for outstanding quality homes
    • Strong team player with a focus on driving both team and site performance
    • HNC in Property or Construction related field as minimum qualification
    • Must be RTPI qualified (or working towards)

    Desirable:

    • Minimum 2:2 degree in Planning, Urban Design, Town or Urban Planning
