    Mattinson Partnership are partnered with iON Consultants, supporting their search for a Principal Health, Safety & CDM Consultant / Principal Designer to join the team. Office base in Wrexham but you could work hybrid from anywhere in the West Midlands, North Wales or the North West of England.

    Key Responsibilities of the Role

    As Principal Consultant, your focus will be to deliver high quality Principal Designer and CDM consultancy services to our existing customers, onboarding new customers and managing a small team of consultants and working with the senior management team to grow the CDM business.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Assisting clients to ensure that they comply with their statutory duties.
    • Acting as the nominated Principal Designer consultant to internal and external organisations.
    • Carrying out full Principal Designer duties under the CDM regulations 2015, including chairing Design Team Meetings and full Design Risk Management compliance.
    • Conducting site Health and Safety audits.
    • Representing the company at meetings with clients, other professionals and suppliers.
    • Responsibility for ensuring full compliance of all Health and Safety requirements, practices and procedures.
    • Be proactive and creative in growing the client base.
    • Be competent in writing fee proposals, tenders and business reports.
    • Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating and corresponding with customers to form strong working relationships.
    • Additional opportunities to support the business with delivering health and safety and ISO management system consultancy services. Be proactive and creative in growing the client base.

    Essential requirements:

    • A recognised professional qualification in construction health and safety
    • Membership of APS (IMaPS or CMaPS) and maintenance of CPD.
    • 5 years' experience of working as a Principal Designer / CDM Consultant.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Hold a full UK driving license.

    Desirable requirements:

    • Qualified or working towards CMIOSH.
    • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
    • Confident in delivering CDM awareness and similar training to customers.
    • Experience of managing and mentoring teams.
