    Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Human Resources & Organisational Development team and to make a real difference to the town, its people, and its local businesses. 75 years on from its establishment as a new town, Crawley is now a regional powerhouse with more than 114,000 residents, a £6bn economy and Gatwick Airport, the world's busiest single runway airport.

Over the past six years the Council has undergone significant transformation to prepare it for the challenges ahead and to move to being a more agile and adapted organisation. The HR & OD Team continues to drive organisational change and effectiveness. This role involves making connections, building relationships and close partnership working as the team develops new systems, processes, and policies to ensure that values and behaviours are embedded. You will require strong communication and influencing skills to help you to secure commitment and cooperation from colleagues at all levels.

The Council has 581 dedicated employees working across eight divisions with 387 in operational roles, out and about in the town, and 194 in front-line services and professional support functions at the Town Hall. The Council's People Programme is focused on improving the employee experience and well-being as well as growing, nurturing and retaining a talented workforce.

This role is about people development and ensuring that every employee has the necessary skills, knowledge and tools to deliver excellent services. You will demonstrate experience of designing and rolling out a learning programme and sourcing deliverable flexible content. This will involve using different teaching methods to meet general and specific needs e.g. digital learning, in-person sessions, tutorials, coaching, mentoring and self-directed learning. You will need to be able to manage your own time and workload effectively.

The HR & OD Team fosters a friendly and supportive physical and remote working environment. With a mix of homeworking and office-based working, we offer flexibility to the team and to our new recruits. The team's physical presence lies within grade A offices in Crawley Town Centre at our New Town Hall. The mix of modern workspaces encourage and support learning, innovation and collaboration.

We support those with family commitments or caring responsibilities. We also welcome candidates with public, private or third sector HR & OD backgrounds.

We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this advert before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.
