    Job summary

    We are looking for an enthusiasticphysiotherapist to join our community team on a permanent basis. The post is full time, but we would considerpart-time and flexible working options.

    Come and join a passionate, innovativeand child-centred therapy team based at The Salt Way Centre in WestSwindon. The Salt Way Centre is aspecialist centre for childrens therapies (physiotherapy, occupational therapyand speech therapy), the disabled childrens social work team, and a specialistearly year centre for children with complex needs.

    We work with children from 0-18 yearswith a wide range of conditions in a variety of settings. These include clinics, patients homes,mainstream and special schools, and hospital clinics.

    Main duties of the job

    You would be responsible for managing avaried caseload of children and young people including the delivery ofspecialist educational provision.Candidates must be able to demonstrate a broad range of clinicalexperience and be ready to develop specialist clinical skills in paediatricphysiotherapy. Training and support is provided by experienced clinicians tosupport your ongoing development.

    A fulldrivers licence and access to a car for use at work, or ability to attend sitevisits is required. and anenhancedDBS disclosure will be required for this position.

    Job responsibilities

  • Skills for assessing & interpreting patient /client conditions, appropriate diagnosis, develop and implement physiotherapy programmes, providing advice to clients/ carers and other disciplines.
  • To use assessment skills to identify and respond to the needs of the individual child or young person.
  • To demonstrate Communication & Relationship Skills, Provide and receive complex, sensitive diagnostic & prognostic information to patients/ clients, carers & relatives : to be able to sensitively take a case history, recognise barriers to communication and capture Children and young people voice.
  • To demonstrate Planning & Organisational Skills: Plans & prioritises own & section patient workload, training sessions; plans and organises specialist service.
  • To provide a high quality and effective paediatric physiotherapy interventions for children attending special or mainstream schools, at home, in school or in clinic settings.
  • Develops & implements physiotherapy programmes within a specialist field trauma, rehabilitation, mental health.
  • Contributes to and implements policy in own area of practice.
  • As a member of the paediatric therapy team, to work as part of the multidisciplinary team, to work as part of the team recognising the individual roles of the other team members and working in partnership with them.
  • Allocates work to team members; supervises students/ provides training in specialist area.
  • Autonomous practitioner, works within codes of practice, guidelines/ may be lead specialist, will be responsible for a caseload in the community.
  • Participates in clinical audits; researches / tests different types of aids
  • To be responsible for the safe use of equipment.
  • To work within your competency, professional code and guidelines.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • BSC Physiotherapy
  • Evidence of on-going specialist training
  • Current registration with HCPC
  • Driving licence and access to a car for work
  • Desirable
