    The School of Education, housed in the Brooks Building on our Manchester campus, serves as the hub for Primary initial teacher education. Comprising a diverse and proactive professional community, we have spearheaded the development of comprehensive study programs tailored for aspiring educators. Our faculty encompasses experts with primary responsibilities spanning Initial Teacher Education for both Primary and Secondary phases, Early Years and Childhood education, Educational Psychology, and various education degrees, alongside a range of Post Graduate offerings.

    Role Overview:

    We present an exceptional opportunity for individuals passionate about nurturing future educators enrolled in Primary initial teacher education programs. Collaborating closely with peers, the role entails delivering lectures, seminars, and tutorials, with a specialized focus on Primary English instruction, encompassing phonics and early reading methodologies.

    Additionally, responsibilities encompass general Primary teaching, including addressing Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing personal tutoring, supporting students during placement visits, and potentially assuming leadership roles in placement activities. The successful candidate will also contribute to program administration and recruitment efforts.

    Expectations for the successful applicant extend beyond teaching duties to actively engaging in the educational, practical, and research-oriented ethos of the school. Encouragement is given to cultivate connections across these spheres within the Faculty.

    Candidate Profile:

    We invite applications from dedicated, enthusiastic individuals with appropriate qualifications (holding QTS) and extensive experience in Primary Education, particularly in English.

    Prospective candidates should demonstrate proficiency in teaching Primary English, Phonics, and Early Reading, alongside confidence in navigating the breadth of the Primary curriculum, including SEND provisions.

    An understanding of initial teacher education is desirable, whether gained through working with student teachers, early career educators, or in mentoring capacities.
