The role:
To lead and be accountable for the Business & Community team within UK Property & Construction.

Responsible for and oversees the underwriting and performance of the respective line of business, to deliver in accordance with the business plan, and with the purpose of underwriting a profitable account on behalf of Aspen.

Skills & experience:

Knowledge And Experience - Excellent understanding of class specific underwriting and reinsurance knowledge - Extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant market conditions for specific class/portfolio - Thorough knowledge of underwriting strategy and how this translates into targets and delivery - Strong understanding of the reinsurance strategy affecting portfolio - Strong knowledge of statutory/ regulatory regime - Strong understanding of risk profiling, pricing tools and loss models - Suitable understanding of financial and actuarial principles to assess risk - Good knowledge of Reinsurance and Expected Profitability Analysis (EPA) requirements - Good working knowledge of business processes and company systems - Specific professional qualifications or equivalent (e.g.

ACII) - Experience of successfully developing and delivering technical and operating strategy - Experience of working as part of a senior team within a multi-national insurance environment - Experience of managing all aspects of a product line/profit centre - Experience of leading underwriting teams - Strong established customer/broker relationships - Positively respected in the marketplace - Deep experience of working with international colleagues/teams/brokers across borders and cultures
