Description

Job Purpose

  • To supervise the delivery of engaging and varied training and activities that support the development of essential skills and wellbeing for adults with learning disabilities and other additional needs.
  • To work to remove barriers to learning, volunteering and employment faced by those with a learning disability.
  • To work in close partnership with departments across the organisation to achieve positive outcomes and depth of experience for project participants.
  • To assist the Project Manager in supporting and supervising a range of Innovate Trust projects which promote the skills and wellbeing of adults with learning disabilities.
  • To assist the Project Manager in ensuring that projects run to a high standard and are in line with the guidelines of funders and expectations of the organisation.
  • To support and guide staff with the day to day running of their projects.

Key Duties:


Supporting Project Participants

  • To promote a positive image of adults with learning disabilities and other additional needs.
  • To uphold person centred values in own working practice, ensuring opportunities are available for participants to contribute to ongoing project design and delivery.
  • To follow project systems and work with the team to continually improve these systems.
  • To facilitate a range of activities and training sessions which have a demonstrable link to the main aims of the identified projects, namely developing essential skills and improving wellbeing.
  • To evaluate and make adaptations to activities and training as needed, to suit level of understanding and methods of communication.
  • To record participant soft skill developments in a way that is person centred, acknowledges the skills participants already have, and captures the meaningfulness of distance travelled by participants.
  • To work with participants to address behaviours of concern, involving others within the participant's support system as appropriate.
  • To act as a main point of contact for volunteers alongside the Project Manager, addressing issues of concern as they arise.

Supporting and Supervising Staff

  • To lead team meetings, allocating tasks and setting task deadlines following these meetings.
  • To ensure that team meeting tasks are completed to a high standard by the deadlines set.
  • To keep the Project Manager informed of work allocation.
  • To act as the initial point of contact for staff on daytoday project matters.
  • To ensure that the expectations of Innovate Trust and external funder requirements are being met by the team.
  • To offer constructive feedback to staff and challenge when appropriate.
  • To monitor staff's completion of risk assessments and adherence to health and safety guidelines, requesting risk assessment reviews and evidence of safety checks as necessary.
  • To pass on any concerns regarding staff to the Project Manager.
  • To support staff to implement and continue developing project structures and processes, with a particular emphasis on supporting newer staff members.
  • To check staff are following set processes and report any issues to the Project Manager.
  • To supervise additional projects as requested by your line manager.
  • To lead participant soft skill reviews with staff.

Partnership Working

  • To work in partnership with other internal departments and to support staff members to do the same, seeking to link services which are complementary to one another in order to offer participants a broad range of experiences and opportunities to develop.
  • To take a strategic view of internal partnership working, proposing joint initiatives which meet the targets and objectives of more than one funder.
  • To work in partnership with external organisations to bring in outside expertise and further training and activity opportunities.
  • To assist staff with troubleshooting partnership problems.
  • To liaise with families, friends, advocates, support workers and carers to effectively advertise the project, and provide a consistent approach that meets individual needs.

Administrative Tasks

  • To review project records relating to those engaged on the project.
  • To carry out internal verification of training and qualification files as requested by Project Manager, ensuring that they meet the standards specified by the awarding body e.g. Agored Cymru.
  • To be aware of the information required by funders to evidence project performance, and to support staff to collect information as per these requirements.
  • To contribute to project social media pages and provide content for Innovate Trust's website.
  • To assist in collating reports for funders as requested by the Project Manager, ensuring content from staff is correct and to a high standard.
  • To complete a monthly activities calendar.
  • To assist in the completion of a monthly staff rota.
  • To carry out project relevant admin tasks when leading or covering an activity.

Organisational Duties

  • To act as a role model to other members
