  • Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for a Service Lead – SEND Assessments & Review to join our Education, Inclusion and Achievement Service.

    You will lead our Assessments & Review service which works on behalf of children and young people with severe and complex special educational needs and their parents. Currently the borough administers a high number of Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans. We deliver highly effective provision and a wide variety of services that support our children and young people to achieve their ambitions.

    The service is responsible for:
  • Delivery of all processes and procedures relating to Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments, plans and reviews
  • Management of the process for placements in Enhanced Mainstream Schools
  • Management and allocation of High Needs 'top up' funding
  • Education improvement, including training and support for SENCOs
  • Non-statutory SEN support across the Borough through the ONE Point Panel
  • You will receive excellent support and join a welcoming, supportive senior management team.

    We are keen to hear from individuals with the following skills and experience:
  • A relevant qualification at graduate/post graduate level.
  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience.
  • Proven ability of managing services, teams and performance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to form positive and constructive relationships.
  • A strong track record of engaging with stakeholders (internal / external) including parents/carers, children and young people.
  • Significant experience at a senior level of implementing the Code of Practice 2014 and leading a team that deliver quality EHC plans within statutory timescales.
  • An extensive knowledge of relevant legislation such as SEN Code of Practice 2015, Children & Families Act 2014 and Education Act 1996.
  • Effective Budget and Financial planning skills.
