    We have an opportunity for an experienced and commercially-minded editor to lead the curation of a bespoke digital travel magazine and newsletter for a world-leading brand within the travel and hospitality industry. This is a rare opportunity to elevate the magazine as a modern travel/lifestyle title that puts the leading client at the core of its content.

    As Editor, you will be an ideas-driven digital content creator with in-depth knowledge of current affairs from local business innovations to travel stories beyond the cliché. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in digital publishing and an interest in creating solutions for where editorial and commercial meet. You will be responsible for the digital magazine as well as creating and overseeing content across a bimonthly newsletter. You will be part of a dynamic team that works closely together across all platforms and as such may be required to contribute to other areas of the Economist Impact brand.

    Accountabilities

    How you will contribute:

  • Take full ownership of the magazine and newsletter content deliverables, from inception through to publishing; creating captivating story lists; commissioning and writing copy and managing the editorial production workflow
  • Collaborate with the art director to produce a creatively striking digital magazine that stands out in the marketplace
  • Produce the content deliverables on time and within budget to the full satisfaction of the client
  • Manage freelance contributors from subeditors to writers, applying an expertly editorial polish to ensure a consistent tone of voice
  • Ensure the brand's editorial standards are met, all relevant copyrights have been cleared, content is optimised for SEO and content meets local and legal guidelines
  • Work with the client and the team to create an editorial content calendar. Keep it current, identifying commercial and audience opportunities within it and communicating them to other members of the team and client
  • Work as an integrated member of a talented editorial team. Contribute to other brand extensions as needed and required by your manager
  • Experience, skills and professional attributes

    The desirable skills for this role include:

  • Strong editorial and digital experience and a proven background as an Editor
  • Self-starter and a good team player with the drive to set and reach ambitious goals
  • Strong writing experience and ability to commission to a tight brief and budget
  • Existing contacts with established travel journalists and branded content writers
  • Have your finger on the pulse of the travel market; use your professional contacts and social-media networks to be the first to identify the next big thing
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, managing to deadlines
  • Travel writing experience is highly preferred
  • Experience with digital content platforms is a plus
