About The Role:


We are seeking an experienced National Welfare Officer to join our team on a permanent full time basis (35 hours per week - Monday to Friday).

The role will require Hybrid working between our SportPark Office in Loughborough, working from home and local club visits as required.

National travel with occasional evening and weekend work will also be required.


This is an exciting opportunity working within a busy safeguarding & welfare team which sits within the wider Legal department.

The purpose of the role is to support and oversee welfare investigations reported to the safeguarding team.


The role specifically involves working closely with club, county and regional welfare officers throughout the country helping them record, investigate and bring welfare complaints to a satisfactory conclusion.

Club welfare officers are all volunteers, so there will be a need for some flexibility around evening work and occasional weekend cover to assist clubs where required outside of normal business hours.

On occasion there may be a need to travel to a club and help with a case and / or training face to face.


Reporting to the Head of Safeguarding & Welfare, your responsiblities will include**:

  • On occasion taking the lead on welfare complaints and investigations, as required.
  • Working with clubs, counties and regions to improve the identification of welfare complaints and the overall quality of welfare complaints
  • Providing support and information to members and clubs on Swim England child safeguarding & welfare procedures and legislation, using the experience and expertise of the rest of the team
  • Assisting with welfare training to Swim England teams, clubs and regions
  • Supporting the implementation and communication of safeguarding & welfare plans and policies across the aquatic network
  • Working directly with others to help communicate good welfare practics, procedures and training
  • Inputting into the publication of Wavepower and all other welfare policies

About You:


  • Have experience in a similar role
  • Have experience of working with volunteers or voluntary organisations
  • Have knowledge of Welfare in Sport, in particular at community level


Previous experience of working at a similar level in organisations such as sports NGBs, local authority or charity organisations would be advantageous as is having experience of low level safeguarding investigations.
