    Senior Policy Officer - Glasgow, United Kingdom - ACCA

    The job The Authorisation team is responsible for administering ACCA's regulatory arrangements for the issue and renewal of practising certificates and other licences to members and firms undertaking public practice work.

    The Policy team is part of the Authorisation team.

    Reporting to the Authorisation Policy Manager, on a day to day basis, you'll be involved in the following:
    Supporting the Authorisation Policy Manager and the other Senior Policy Officers in establishing new policies relating to the authorisation process, developing current policies and mapping policy to procedure
    Supporting the Lead - Regulator Reporting with external regulator activities including the preparation of stats for annual reports and other reporting activities as required
    Providing guidance to the team and other colleagues across ACCA on policy matters relating to the authorisation process
    Completing accurate assessments of waiver applications in line with ACCA procedures and policies
    Undertaking administration duties to support the preparation and drafting of timely and high quality reports for the Admissions and Licensing Committee and the granting of administrative waivers
    Undertaking post-committee administration duties to ensure that decisions are implemented in a timely manner
    Contributing to the effective delivery of Authorisation processes by dealing with emails, correspondence and telephone calls from members requiring excellent technical knowledge of matters relating to public practice
    Administration of key information of ACCA's practising member and firm database
    Supporting the updating of annually renewable certificate forms, online renewal facility, initial application forms, waiver application forms, practising information handbook, procedures manuals and the website
    Contributing to and supporting administrative preparation work prior to annual regulator audit visits from FRC and IAASA
    Carrying out 'hot reviews' of specific applications
    Contributing to Authorisation projects and enhancements
    Liaising with External Regulators, ACCA offices and other internal teams and departments to deliver a quality service to stakeholders throughout the Authorisation process and contribute to ACCA-wide projects
    Carry out general ad hoc duties as requested by the Authorisation Policy Manager and the Lead - Regulator Reporting.

    The person We're looking for someone who:
    Ideally has a knowledge and understanding of Accountancy/Accounting Practice from AAT qualification, HNC or work experience
    Has ability to develop, monitor, interpret and understand Authorisation policies and procedures
    Has the ability to provide technical guidance on interpreting and applying knowledge of regulations and policies relating to Authorisation
    Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers at all levels
    Is highly organised, logical and methodical mind-set with very strong analytical skills and an emphasis on attention to detail
    Is I.T literate with fast and accurate data inputting and a sound knowledge of MS Office
    Has the ability to work as part of the wider team to achieve the objectives of the department
    Has the ability to apply knowledge, sound judgement and initiative within complex situations and make appropriate and measured decisions
