Most recentlyin October 2023 we were voted in the top 5 admired whisky brands inthe world (across all whisky categories) which is a remarkableachievement for a small independent scaleup business. We haveambitious growth targets and exciting plans for the future. We are28 people strong.

    Why we needyou

    We need someone to put theirheart and soul into strategically planning running and leadingoperations. The good news is that weve got exceptional whiskiesthat any Operations Director would love to put their name behind.In some other companies this role would be called Supply ChainDirector. Our primary markets are in the US and Europe thoughtheres real appetite for our whisky in Asia and Global TravelRetail too. Theres so much opportunity around the world and we needsomeone with an investigative and inquisitive mind to shape anddeliver a highly efficient and sustainable business model.

    Operations is the fuel on which our businessoperates. There have been a number of important positive changes inthe last couple of years to our Operations footprint but more needsto be done. You will get the opportunity immediately to shape howwe do Operations at Compass Box and in so doing create anincredible legacy.

    We are a progressivechallenger business known for our creativity and transparency. Weenjoy doing things differently at Compass Box in Operations and inthe rest of the business. We describe ourselves as heretics withpositive intent

    Who will be rightby your side

    Youll report into theCEO but it is much more of a collaboration than a hierarchy. Youwill be a key member of the Companys Leadership Team (other membersare the CEO CFO President Americas Commercial DirectorInternational Marketing Director and Whiskymaking Director). Youwill have regular exposure to our Board andInvestors.

    Where it allhappens:

    We have a lovely newoffice and blending room in Richmond London but were flexible aboutwhere you spend your time. You could be based in London or inScotland. It will be important for you to spend a reasonable amountof time in the office in Richmond but also with our partners inScotland.

    Your enthusiasticteam:

    You have three talented andcommitted direct reports 2 based in Scotland and 1 in Richmond.

    Your keyresponsibilities:

    • Participateactively in the Companys Leadership team and be a coleader fordelivery of our short and longterm growth objectives.
    • Accountable with your team for internationallogistics purchasing supplier management cask movements warehousingand stock management.
    • Manage the whisky supplyplan based on short and longterm forecasting ensuring the rightstock is always in the right place at the righttime.
    • Leading and developing the team and theindividuals on it. We expect all our leaders to be peoplecentric.We aspire to a high performance generous culture where individualscan thrive. We need this in the Operations team as well as in everyother team in the company.
    • Manage positive andcollaborative relationships with all our key suppliers. As part ofthis manage supplier SLAs to ensure the highest levels of serviceand compliance to requirements (including raw materialsdistributors bottling warehousing).
    • Leadtransformational business projects to deliver cash efficienciessuch as evaluation of the optimal warehousesolution.
    • Lead and embed the emergingS&OP process across the company. As part of this developflexible and intuitive planning processes that cover all aspects ofthe business including raw materials production stockmovements
    • Improve our profit (via optimisingoperational costs including Cost of Goods in a manner consistentwith our premium whiskies) via efficient production throughmanagement of blending operations; raw material procurement andcost negotiation; and the newproduct development process.

    Heres what werelooking for professionallyspeaking:

    • A Degreeleveleducation (or equivalent).
    • Proven professionalexperience of managing all aspects of operations (logisticspurchasing planning warehousing and production). Ideally in thealcoholic beverage industry.
    • Outstandingorganisational skills with an ability to clearly prioritise andmanage work.
    • Cool under pressure and good atmanaging conflicting deadlines with an ability to handle multipleprojects at once.
    • Understanding of HMRCregulations within the alcoholic beverageindustry.
    • Confident with digital technology /software particularly Excel and operationalsystems.
    • Strong numerical and data analysisskills with a proven record of improving operational efficiencythrough datadriven solutions.
    • A passion forsustainability (we are early in our journey and aspire to be betterin this area).
    • A genuine interest in what wedo.
    • Experience in the development andimplementation of systems / software /processes.
