About The Role


This is a 12 month fixed-term post within the Consultation and Engagement Team for Traffic, and Parking which provides communications and engagement support for a range of priority Traffic, Transport and Parking schemes.

This is a great opportunity for and experienced Engagement Officer looking for a new challenge.


The postholder will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating effective and engaging communications, consultation, and engagement activity for a range of priority council strategic programmes.

They will utilise a range of channels to improve the understanding of local priorities and needs relating to the council's strategic programmes, including media and digital campaigns, internal communications, stakeholder engagement and public consultation and engagement.


Working closely with key stakeholders and with the wider communications and engagement team across Traffic, Transport and Parking they will ensure that gathered insight informs and supports communications and engagement planning and delivery and that activity is coordinated and complementary.


About The Team You'll Be Working In


You will be a member of the Traffic, and Parking team who are the main service lines for the London Borough of Hounslow.


These departments are responsible for not only ensuring that the borough's residents, workers, and visitor travel about the area safely, but also that they are mindful of how they can travel sustainably and actively and that the areas they travel withing are clean and welcoming.

Our traffic team are made up of engineers and project officers.

The work carried out by our Traffic team is to ensure the safe operation of the transport network across the Borough.

Traffic and Parking is part of the Regeneration, Housing and Environmental Services, reporting to the Assistant Director.


You will be part of a team of 6 to support our Transport projects across the council in line with our Transport strategies.

About You

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, to form positive relationships with Stakeholders, internal and external partners both face-to-face and in online meetings.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills for a wide range of audiences.
  • Organisational skills with good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Provide the highest standards of professional communications, engagement and consultation advice and support to service leads and councillors.
  • Prepare, deliver, and evaluate high-quality strategic communications and engagement plans covering media and public relations, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, digital and social media, consultation, and internal communications that increase public understanding of and engagement with the council's priority strategic programmes.
