    Job description

Integration and Test Manager for Type 31 Mission System – Shore Integration Facility (SIF)

Are you looking for your next challenge to join a growing and diverse team dedicated to developing our future maritime mission systems for customers worldwide? Are you looking for an opportunity to undertake a pivotal role towards future innovation and capability? This is the role for you

    The Role:

This programme is key for both Thales and the UK MOD. The SIF is not just a reference set for our Mission System; it is an enabling capability that will be used to support Combat System Accreditation as the Navy begins their process of enhancing the Type 31 platform with future capability (such as a new EW system, for example), which is already planned. SIF is the critical component that allows this to happen, and will lead to future work for Thales as we support our customers.

As an IVVQ Manager in Above Water Systems, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team focused on delivering an Integrated Mission System to the Royal Navy. As the Combat System Integrator, Thales will be responsible for providing an integral part of the overall ship solution, working with multiple suppliers to design, develop and qualify the system. As an IVVQ Manager you will have the unique position of working with a combination of technologies to integrate and verify them in a logical and structured manner to fully satisfy the customers' requirements. This programme is a key enabler for the future AWS opportunities, and team members will have the opportunity to shape the future ways of working in a multi-entity organisation.

    Key tasks and responsibilities:

    • Responsible for planning and managing the process of subsystem FATs through to STW and Mission System Acceptance at Portsdown Technology Park.
    • Must work closely with an international team, with major subsystems coming from SIX-UK in Crawley (Comms), Raytheon in Portsmouth (Bridge and Nav), and Naval NL in Hengelo (Combat System).
    • Must be able to interface with a wide stakeholder community of customers and end users including DE&S in Bristol, and NCSISS in Portsmouth (installation site).
    • Must be able to quickly get up-to-speed with the architecture and system design for the Type 31 Mission System by learning from the Design and Build team.
    • The role will mainly be based in Portsmouth but will require travel across the AWS UK sites and to Hengelo, Netherlands.

This position will require eligibility for SC clearance – please refer to the UKSV website for more information.
