We have a great opportunity for a Lead Design Manager to work on the Southern Renewals Enterprise. The project will total 5+5 years of multiple individual schemes across Network Rail's Southern Route (Kent, Sussex & Wessex).

As the Lead Design Manager you will report into the Head of Engineering and take charge of the delivery & management of our scope within the Southern Renewals Enterprise.

Your key responsibilities will include ensuring a consistent and compliant approach to design and design management across the enterprise, as well as providing sufficient design management resources for each project.

You will closely monitor the performance of directly engaged Designers on each project, covering aspects such as program adherence, cost management, and the quality of deliverables.

It will be your responsibility to ensure that the project develops and maintains a Hazard Log in accordance with CDM and CSM, while robustly identifying and managing design risks in compliance with applicable legislation.

You will also play a vital role in supporting project teams in resolving any issues that arise with Design Organisations.

In addition, you will provide support for the implementation of BIM and other digital technologies related to the design management process.

Reporting on Designer(s) and design management performance across the division to the Technical Director and divisional leads will be part of your regular responsibilities.

It will be crucial for you to ensure that a Design Management Plan (DMP) is produced for the framework and every project as required, and that the design is effectively managed in line with this plan.

About you

You will posses extensive experience within rail construction/civil engineering
Experience in Rail Design Assurance and Documentation requirements
You will hold a degree in a civil engineering related subject, providing you with the technical foundation to excel in this role
Membership in a professional engineering institution, highlighting your dedication to your field.
