  • This is an exciting opportunity to work with our most critically important and highprofile assets that protect our communities. As one of two Reservoir Advisors on the team, you will engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver fully operational, wellmaintained flood risk management reservoirs that comply with the legal and statutory requirements of the Reservoir Act 1975.


Key to success in this role are great communication and organisation skills, a proven track record in managing multiple concurrent projects and genuine interest in making a difference to people and our environment.

A good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Wellbeing is essential, as well as willingness to coach and mentor team members by sharing knowledge and experience.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

  • The team
  • This post sits within the South Somerset Asset Performance Team, within Flood and Coastal Risk Management Operations. We are a friendly multiskilled team of technical advisors, incident management leads, catchment managers, data and support officers, engineers and asset inspectors. You will work with our existing Reservoir Advisor and work collaboratively with Reservoir Advisors in our other Wessex Asset Performance Teams.


  • Experience/skills required

  • Essential:
  • Interest in Asset Management
  • Project/programme management experience
  • Competent IT and data analysis skills
  • The ability to pick up new processes and IT systems
  • Strong written and verbal skills and be able to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Well organised, with attention to detail, and deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard
  • Selfmotivation, working well as part of a team and autonomously

Desirable but not essential:

  • Knowledge of the Reservoir Act 197
  • Qualification (C.Eng or I.Eng) or equivalent experience in civil engineering
  • Experience of topographical levelling/surveys
  • Construction Design and Management regulations awareness
