An exciting opportunity has arisen within Neath Port Talbot Hospital Theatres department for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated Receptionist.

The post holder is required to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the reception area within Main Theatres.

The post holder will support Main Theatre staff in the effective booking, notification, admission and discharge of patients and their medical records.


The post holder will be required to input/amend details into the Theatre Operating Management System (TOMS) and to print and distribute operating lists to the relevant Theatres.

Liaising with health care professions from other departments will also be required.

Lay up the consumables required for upcoming lists.

Ensure that all patient medical notes/documentation/referrals accompanies the patients to the Theatre area


You will need to possess excellent communication and IT skills in order to undertake this role to a high standard.

Answering telephone enquiries and providing clinic information to patients and staff.


Provide support to the Theatre team in laying up of consumables required for upcoming lists, and ensuring that all patient medical notes/documentation/referrals accompanies the patients to the Theatre area.

Applicants must possess excellent communication and organisational skills and be capable of working on your own initiative. Must also have a flexible approach to work.


To communicate effectively with patients, carers and staff and liaise with other departments to arrange appointments and deal with queries.

To maintain confidentiality at all times and a friendly and approachable manner is essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
