    Our Client are a large producer of premium quality chilled and ambient foods, both own label and brand. They are currently looking for an experienced Brand Manager to join their Commercial team.

    ROLE SUMMARY (main purpose)

    The Brand Manager will act as the brand guardian, lead the strategic direction for the brand and how this translates into innovation and communication plans. The individual will also be responsible for the marketing of the business franchise proposition and working closely with the Franchise Manager and Head of Operations.

    REPORTING STRUCTURE

    • Reports to Head of Customer Marketing
    • Key internal stakeholders Commercial Team, Head of Operations, Franchise Manager, Group Insight
    • Key external stakeholders 3rd party manufacturers, marketing agency, key customer accounts.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The role will be responsible for owning and leading all things relating to their brand and its medium to long term strategic direction. They will need to be organised and structured, with good cross-department communication skills to bring the wider business on the journey with them and instil a brand guardianship mentality across all areas.

    Brand Manager responsibilities:

    • Manage the development and execution of the 3-year brand strategy, translating it into the annual brand plans that are reviewed and signed off.
    • Work with the commercial teams to present the brand strategy and annual brand plans each year to key strategic partners, ensuring we stand out and create memorable events.
    • Own the brand P&L, tracking performance against signed off annual budget and constantly looking at ways to optimise and improve our profit through cost re-engineering, innovation, and where appropriate CAPEX projects.
    • Responsible for managing the marketing spend, flagging any concerns or challenges throughout the year.
    • Work closely with the business and group insight team to constantly understand and highlight brand insights, including customer and consumer opinions, so they can inform our long-term strategic brand plan.
    • Manage the development and continual review of the brands 3-year innovation pipeline. Including managing the product lifecycle on a day-to-day basis, with the support of the NPD Manager.
    • Work closely with the NPD Manager and Head of Operations to ensure our relationship with 3rd party manufacturers is collaborative and as per the agreed contract.
    • Manage the development of market leading assets, including pack shots and lifestyle imagery.
    • Manage the development and continual review of the brand hook ensuring this is developed into annual campaigns that build year on year to grow our brand equity.
    • Lead all agencies working on the brand to create a collaborative working environment that builds on the annual campaign and delivers a consistent approach across all channels.
    • Track ROI across agencies deliverables and media campaigns.
    • Manage the brand guidelines, and where applicable campaign guidelines and toolkit.
    • Lead all internal marketing & PR for the brand to drive internal awareness and excitement.
    • Manage regular competitor tracking and store checks (online and in-store), documenting imagery for wider team to use as and when needed.
    • Lead the translation of all marketing content into an up-to-date Franchise Toolkit, which can be used across all of our franchise estate.
    • Support the Franchise Manager with the development and evolution of the business as a Franchise Proposition.

    The Brand Manager will also support the Head of Customer Marketing with:

    • The brands long term strategic plans and direction into the customers and channels.
    • Maintaining internal relationships across the business through strong and timely communication with all stakeholders, supporting the team where needed.
    • Managing the 3rd party manufacturing relationships
    • Managing the wider Franchise proposition and agreements.

    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE

    • Qualifications
    • Ideally degree level, within the field of business and/ or marketing
    • Experience
    • 3+ years previous experience of working in a similar role managing and developing a brand, including product development and campaign creation. Experience of working with and managing external agencies.
    • Skills/ Knowledge
    • Solid project management skills, commercially astute, problem solving, influencing, passion for marketing and the consumer.
