BRC are working with a reputable Housing Association in the South West to recruit a permanent Disrepair Surveyor into their team.

Our client is looking for an experienced surveyor with strong building diagnosis skills to identify, inspect, and provide solutionsto problems and defects with their stock.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the senior surveyor with the delivery of responsive, cyclical and major repairs to tenanted and void properties
  • Carry out property inspections and write reports on damp, mould and condensation
  • Carry out disrepair investigations, documenting claims and taking photographic evidence and HHSRS assessments
  • Diagnose maintenance requirements and ensure that the quality of works delivered by contractors are on time and within budget
  • Inspect and assess any repair requests and defects where an immediate repair may not be appropriate, and technical advice is required to identify and advise on appropriate solutions
  • Certify that contractors provide value for money through checking of invoices and valuations and ensure that works are delivered inline with CDM regulations
  • Carry out post inspections, identifying communal repairs, ensuring they are managed through to completion.
  • Ensure that all health and safety policies are followed and works comply with the H&S and fire safety requirements
  • Undertake void inspections and specifications
  • Carry out asbestos and hazardous materials inspections and ensure all information is logged
  • Act on customer complaints and provide technical advice and support

Job Requirements:

  • HND / HNC level in construction or building qualification
  • Good understanding and knowledge of utilising IT software including Microsoft Office
  • Building Pathology knowledge and experience
  • A driver with access to own vehicle
