    Description

    Assist the Cook in Charge in the whole range of their duties, within a local authority establishment.

    Undertake the duties of a Cook in Charge when absences occur.

    Deatiled Task Profile:

    • Work under the supervision of a Cook in Charge and to assist the Cook in Charge as required in the preparation, cooking and serving of meals, clearing away, washing up and cleaning processes, observing all food hygiene and health and safety regulations.
    • Able and willing to undertake the full range of the Cook in Charges duties (as outlined in the job description) to include all administrative duties and procedures in the absence of the Cook in Charge at the normal site of employment on every required occasion and after being consulted by the manager, to undertake the same at other locations within the authority within a reasonable travelling distance, with the appropriate travelling allowances, should the need arise.
    • Have regard for the customers needs and to be able to handle complaints.
    • Report any hazards, risks or areas of concern, particularly with regard to hygiene, to senior staff.
    • Be punctual and flexible and to be prepared to work at varying times of day in order to ensure the smooth running of the catering unit and that customers needs are met.
    • Prepared to work additional hours as required due to absenteeism, increase in demand for meals etc.
    • Handle cash, operate cash registers and associated electronic systems, if necessary, and to complete any necessary paperwork under the supervision of the Cook in Charge.
    • Check, clean, re-stock and collect cash from vending machines, where appropriate.
    • Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures.
    • Undertake any training considered necessary for the post, as required, to include any training resulting from performance assessments.
