We have an opportunity for a field-based Biomass Vacuum Vehicle Operator to join our Service and Heat Supply team covering England and Wales.

    The Role will involve:

    Working closely with our engineering team, supporting with a range of tasks but with a focus on de-ashing biomass boilers, assisting during boiler servicing and cleaning of Biomass fuel stores

    • Driving and operating a vehicle mounted vacuum system, ensuring equipment is maintained correctly and any faults are reported
    • Adhering to best practice, and in compliance with any statutory requirements and manufacturers' instructions
    • Travelling across England and Wales to attend sites in line with planned schedules
    • Being responsible for transporting waste from site to disposal location – ensuring waste transfer notes are accurate and vehicle legal weight is not exceeded
    • Ensuring accurate and detailed report and record keeping – taking and logging photographs for reporting purposes, including before and after photos for planned services and photos for identifying any issues
    • Undertaking all tasks according to Health and Safety requirements and wearing correct PPE
    • Contributing to a high level of HSEQ performance on all sites, encouraging a strong HSEQ culture and adherence to HSEQ legislation and Group HSEQ policies
    • Completing risk assessments and method statements for specific tasks as required

    What we are looking for:

    • A self-motivated and honest individual who enjoys working independently as part of a wider team with a desire to learn new skills, and has the following knowledge, skills and experience:
    • A full UK Driving Licence
    • A basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
    • Excellent awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
    • Good geographical knowledge
    • Experience of working in a heavily regulated environment
    • Demonstrable experience of working in a confined space environment
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage time to effectively meet deadlines
    • Strong attention to detail to ensure job reports are accurately recorded
    • Proactive and takes full responsibility for works completed
    • Ability to go above and beyond to support customer and business needs, including being adaptive to change and supporting others where required
    • A hard worker who aims to achieve a high standard of work and has a desire to learn new skills and continue to develop in role

    Additional Information:

    Location: Ideally based in Central England to enable travel to various sites, this is a field based role, nationwide travel with frequent overnight stay where accommodation with meal allowance is provided

    Significant amount of manual handling, physical activity and working in confined spaces.

    Hours of work: 40 hours per week, with a requirement to be on call and opportunity for overtime

    Equipment: A purpose-built company vehicle, tools, laptop and mobile device will be provided
