Commodities Sales Specialist - Chemicals, Europe


The Impact:

Aligned with our Commodity Insights sales transformational vision of a customer-centric organization, the Commercial Sales Specialist for Chemicals plays a pivotal role in translating our services into tailored solutions to meet our customers' key objectives.

This involves blending market knowledge with a diagnostic selling approach to identify workflow requirements and position our best-in-class solutions.


The integration of capabilities from our legacy organizations, Platts and IHSMarkit, has demonstrated significant potential, delivering double-digit growth for our Chemicals business.

With substantial investments, we are strategically focusing on this high-growth area to provide a comprehensive range of solutions for our customers.


Responsibilities:

Achieve established regional net sales and retention rate targets.


Proactively manage a 7-digit book of business, collaborating with sales account managers and commercial teams to drive growth and provide forecast visibility.


Lead by example, working with generalist sales on a structured sales approach that involves leading with insight, diagnosing needs, and offering solutions aligned with customer requirements.

Build and maintain strong client relationships, network effectively within the industry and build valuable connections.

Maintain and develop a growing pipeline to meet growth targets, forecasting performance with accuracy.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop strategies, enhance our offerings, and expand support to customers in the region.

Conduct and document high levels of meaningful pre and post-sales activities and client interactions using Salesforce.

Demonstrate in-depth product, technical, and energy market knowledge, including the ability to effectively present our insights.

Understand client workflows and articulate how the features of our offering translate into solutions for identified client needs.

Participate in ad-hoc projects supporting team objectives and promoting the Commodity Insights brand.

Travel, including conference attendance and regional seminar co-hosting, may be required (minimum 20%).


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with a proven track record in Chemicals or related commodities markets.

Background in Commodity Chemicals or Solution-selling with an understanding of client workflows.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Proven presentation skills, both in one-on-one settings and in larger group settings

Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with a genuine team-player mindset.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Technical proficiency in using sales tools, CRM systems (such as Salesforce), and other relevant technologies.
