How you will make Plan Zero happen


The client is passionate about bringing about positive change for our customers and aspires to be their decarbonisation partner as they embark on the journey to Net Zero.

We support clients decarbonise their energy, their buildings and their transport operations, and you will play a key part in this mission by advising clients on net zero strategies and initiatives to support their decarbonisation agendas.

What will you do day to day?


The Plan Zero Consultant will report to the Lead Partner, while working closely with all members of the Plan Zero Consulting team and other relevant teams, as required by individual projects.

You will be expected to deliver billable consultancy services to new and existing customers as required by specific engagements.


Typical advice you would be providing our clients includes:
Advising clients on net zero strategies, identifying the most appropriate decarbonisation solutions to meet their climate goals and agendas
Defining clear carbon transition plans for customers to enable a reduction in their emissions in a timely and cost-effective manner
Educating customers on the implications of decarbonisation, including potential high-level impacts on business operations
Providing a holistic view of carbon emissions including advice on Scope 3 emissions and ways to understand, report and analyse them, as well as to develop initiatives to reduce them
Overview of innovation and technologies relating to the customer's decarbonisation needs and relevant to their sector and industry, including Energy Efficiency measures, Green Energy Procurement, Solar PV, Heat Pumps and EV Charging Infrastructure


As part of your role, you will be:
Managing multiple client-facing decarbonisation engagements
Supporting the structuring and preparation of client proposals on decarbonisation services
Managing and mentoring junior consultants and analysts within project delivery teams to aid their personal and professional development
Producing impactful reports with findings and recommendations
Delivering client presentations and workshops to present project outputs
Structuring and reviewing data models to assess customer carbon emission performance and forecast scenarios
Building close and trusted relationships with clients
Keeping abreast of market developments, trends and innovation to generate points of view that support our customers' needs
Reviewing work and outputs from more junior team members
Engaging with energy and decarbonisation industry stakeholders through events, conferences, workshops, webinars
Continually seeking personal skills development opportunities to support improved job role performance and career progression within the company

Who will you work with?


The Plan Zero Consulting team is part of Plan Zero team, the company's business unit responsible for driving the sustainability and decarbonisation agendas of our customers.

The role will play a pivotal role in supporting clients to accelerate their net zero journey through provision of strategic and advisory support across all relevant areas, including the built environment, energy procurement, transport, waste and biodiversity.


You will work closely with account and business development teams, ensuring early access to client conversations and early identification of client issues and challenges.


As part of this role, you can expect regular engagement with:
Analysts, Consultants, Managers and Partners to discuss project delivery with a focus on achieving the exceptional
Decarbonisation Engineers and Energy Managers for support on building audits and with the technical considerations relating to the initiatives being developed

The clients existing customers to discuss and deliver decarbonisation opportunities
Internal stakeholders including Account Managers, Technical Managers, and Operations teams to educate on the energy transition and sustainability trends and our role within this space


Qualifications:

University degree in a relevant field
Desirable to have work experience or volunteering in the ESG space

Experience & Skills

Experience of working with clients and building trusted long-term relationships both with customers and internal stakeholders
Clear understanding of decarbonisation challenge and implications for private and public companies
Detailed understanding of the GHG Protocol and Scope 1,2&3 and the methods for measurement and mitigation projects
Working knowledge of decarbonisation technologies including Energy Efficiency measures, Solar PV, Heat Pumps, EV Charging Infrastructure
Understanding of embodied carbon, and calculation methodologies is preferable
Good commercial acumen and understanding of producing project budgets and delivering against them
Excellent English written and oral communication skills
Ability to eloquently and professionally communicate with
