Hours - 7am - 3.30pm mon - fri
6 months initially
Congleton is main hub but can be based from Crewe or Macclesfield if easier
Inside IR35
Will be required to mentor junior staff

Work vehicle provided


JOB PURPOSE:


The main purpose of the role is to carry out highway lighting maintenance operations on existing highway electrical equipment and new installations across Cheshire East Highways.

As a Skilled Operative, you will provide a first-class service to our customers,completing a high standard of maintenance to the highway network.

You will need to be able to follow basic instruction and deal effectively with peers, client representatives and the general public

  • Carry out a variety of skilled tasks including the installation and repair of Street Lights, Illuminated Traffic Bollards and Illuminated Signs.
  • Ability to undertake activities associated with light goods vehicles to include MEWP vehicles
  • Traffic management operations
  • Ensure compliance to electrical standards to ensure safe electrical installations
  • Driving/operating vehicles/plant requiring both general and specialist skills
  • Providing instruction and mentor apprentices and trainees
  • Participation in Call Out/Stand by Rota Out of Hours for Emergency Work
  • Other Ad Hoc duties to fulfil the requirement of the role

Job Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Highway Electrical Work Public Lighting (or approved equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous Street Lighting or Highways experience
  • Valid ECS Test/Card
  • IPAF 1B Mewp
  • G39 Safe Isolation
  • 18th Edition or 714 HERs Course
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Manual Handling
  • Power Tools including hand tools
